Fragment of a shroud of Guy de Lusignan (BOSMFA 40.53)

Silk double cloth with chevron pattern of fleurs-de-lis in contrasting blue and natural-color bands; stylized Islamic script on borders. Condition: stained, brittle, missing areas, selvedge on one side turned and sewn. Said to have been part of shroud of Guy de Lusignan (D. 1194), King of Jerusalem and Cyprus.
