With close ties to the Cathedral, Juan de Paez was ultimately buried at the Altar of Santo Cristo upon his death. His wife was later buried beside him. The Guadalajara Cathedral was built in 1541 and then rebuilt in 1618 due to a fire and again in 1854 due to an earthquake.plain2016-09-02T09:59:07-07:00Andrea Ledesma3398f082e76a2c1c8a9101d91a66e1d764540d34
