"A Closing Hymn"
"A Closing Hymn" (Eddy #109)—This hymn, not surprisingly, closes out Eddy’s book. It is taken from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner but fits as a closing song: “Farewell, farewell! But to this I tell, / To thee, thou wedding guest” and also for an animal organization: “He prayeth well, who loveth well, Both man and bird and beast” (v. 1).
We always ended our Bands of Mercy choir rehearsals and concerts with this hymn, so all three Bands (2019, 2020, 2025) sang it! The recording, above, though, is from our 2019 choir, in 2-part harmony.
