#SEGGSED: SEX, SAFETY, AND CENSORSHIP ON TIKTOK

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This thesis was researched and written while living and learning on occupied Kumeyaay land. I wish to acknowledge the legacy of the Kumeyaay people who have been nourished, healed, protected and embraced by this land for many generations in a relationship of balance and harmony. I want to acknowledge the sex working communities who have informed this project by creating, preserving, and sharing knowledge that has historically, intentionally been surveilled, censored, and disrupted through the policing of sex workers. I want to especially thank the Hacking//Hustling and Decoding Stigma collectives for their critical organizing work and research about SESTA-FOSTA, EARN IT, and other impactful, and often violent, changes to the digital landscape. Thank you to the sex educators and sex education advocates who have and continue to inspire me to fight for universal access to a liberatory sex education curriculum that is yet to exist. Thank you to the educators who have inspired me and been a part of this journey, including my dearest teacher-friends and comrades, Ale and Nick, whose abolitionist and revolutionary influences can be found all throughout this paper. Your friendships have changed my life <3 This thesis would not have been possible without the support of my badass committee. Amira, Christine, and Raechel, thank you for grounding me and offering me your unwavering support and confidence in my ability to complete this project. Thank you to my amazing partner, Ian, for being my idea sounding board and the first person to read this work. I love you, thank you for being here every step of the way. Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank my family. Thank you to my parents, for the sacrifices they have made and the love they have given me in order for me to pursue higher education; and thank you to my not-so-little sisters, Sarah and Dylan, for inspiring me so much. I love you always. There are too many people who have influenced me and this project to name, so thank you to everyone who made this work possible, I am deeply grateful.
