Company 967 was organized at Fort Missoula in October, 1936, as a Junior-Montana company. It had previously existed as a Junior-Idaho company. The new company remained at Fort Missoula until December where it was move to Camp 15, Apgar Flats in Glacier Nation Park.

The company continued in this location throughout the summer and the following winter where the principal work projects were the falling of trees burned in the 1929 fire, and the general improvement of the landscape.

In the spring of 1938, the company crossed to the east side of the park and located on beautiful St. Mary Lake. Here the company was engaged in laying an underground telephone cable through the rugged Avalanche Basin.

In October, 1938, the company returned to Camp 15, and resumed work on the beautification of the Apgar area. In April, 1939, the company occupied Camp 9 which is a short distance south of Camp 15 and nearer to the town of Belton. This is the present location, and landscape improvement, construction of camp grounds, and fire hazard reduction continue to be the main work projects.

Members of the company have constantly been active in athletics. Track, baseball, basketball, and boxing teams have distinguished themselves in matches with neighboring camps, Park Headquarters, and the towns of Columbia falls, Whitefish, and Kalispell. Company 967 placed first in a boxing tournament held at this camp in July, 1939. Competing fighters were from three neighboring camps.

The officers of Company 967 at present are: Gerald R. Underwood, Company Commander; Jay Haine, Subaltern; Jean Sullivan, Project Superintendent; Charles Beiswinger, Educational Adviser; and Dr. John D. Chambers, Camp Surgeon.
