Company 591, CCC, was organized at For Knox, Kentucky, in April, 1933. It was immediately sent to Camp Dunlap near Piedra, California, Fresno District. On May 5, 1934, it was ordered to Camp Beaver Dam, near Priest River, Idaho. About the first of August orders received to proceed to Camp-Nine Mile, Alberton, Montana. While at this camp the company gained the distinction of putting in more man-days on fire fighting than any other company in the United States. On October 7, 1934, the company was moved to Camp Lisenby near North Fork, California. On May 15, 1935, the company returned to the Fort Missoula District where it was assigned to its present location.
Recent outstanding achievements are a baseball team which won every game last summer but two; the raising of about six hundred and fifty chickens and turkeys for the camp mess; and the granting of high school diplomas to thirteen men within the past year. A spike camp is located at Seeley Lake, Montana, one hundred and twenty-six miles north-east of the base camp. The men here have made a record in the quality of work done in the building log cabins for the boy scouts of the Missoula Council.
Leo C. Wilson is the commanding officer, Charles E. Rist is subaltern, Thomas J. Evans is camp doctor, Clifton S Jackson is educational adviser, Harold F. Johnson is camp superintendent and V. Earl Hollar is assistant camp superintendent.
