Into the Forest
Into the Forest is an art piece, presented by Open Ended Group in 2011, in which a stereoscopic 3D painting-like video of a magic forest that is continuously changing floats away from a circular screen and interacts with the viewer. One can see children that are playing inside the forest and exploring it as shadows with no details such as faces or clothes. What makes this piece interactive is that the viewer will occasionally become part of the piece and see his reflection, as a shadow too, inside the forest. This is achieved by means of a spotlight that turns on and off for a certain period of time. The Open Ended Group provides an experience in which the viewer gets immersed in an atmosphere filled with the beauty and simplicity of children playing in a natural and pure setting.
“The experience is akin to plunging back into the daydreams of
childhood, which can be glimpsed again but never quite recaptured.”
