The Breakdown
In order to understand where exactly Into the Forest takes us and how is this accomplished, I’m going to separate it into two different components. These components are the tools the artists used and combined to create this complex art piece. Later we will look at them together and see how combining them conveys the message.
Content: This is the concept that is being communicated. In this case it’s the children playing in the forest. To begin with I’m going to look at the content as the pure physical situation that is represented.
Stereoscopic 3D video: This is the way the artists chose to present such content. This could also be called ‘the medium’. When analyzing the medium I’m going to focus on the effect it has on the viewer, which consequently affects the interpretation of the message being communicated.
