Technology used in automata

The Jaquet-Droz’s automata were created as a public relations tool to advertise his watches. Their initial intention for creation was to simply attract a lot of attention which would hopefully lead to selling of his commodities. The Enlightenment, which led to strings of discoveries in the sciences, stimulated people’s interest in the automata. And the development in knowledge in the clockwork and physics facilitated creations of the more elaborate automata.
