US Latinx Activism and Protests: From the Farm to the (Legislative) Table

Spatial aspect

Within this section of the image a number of Mexican workers can be seen crowded in the train with arms in the air and for the most part smiles on their faces. As the beginning of the journey to the US for these workers, it appears to be telling of what was to come. Telling of situations like the health inspections and even poorer working as well as living conditions faced in the US. In this section of the image there can also be seen a contrast between the workers with smiles and a singular individual looking ahead in a deadpan manner. Once again this seems to tie into a kind of foreshadowing of the reality which the workers would endure and from it surges a sense of disillusionment, common in the majority of braceros.
