The workers which ended up traveling to the US for labor had to pack a considerable amount of essential belongings to begin their experiences in the US. The inclusion of the luggage in this image is interesting in demonstrating everything the braceros had to leave behind. For some this may have been, in their minds, nothing more than poverty or instability, but for others it was family, loved ones and a big part of their life as well as identity.
