US Latinx Activism and Protests: From the Farm to the (Legislative) Table

"Cuidado al pisar"

While we are used to bilingual labels, the hispanic population in the 1940's was significantly lower and labels such as these do not seem to have been as prevalent. The inclusion of such labels, especially for this program, demonstrates a level of consideration to some degree like in some cases such as the more favorable ones, like in Danenberg camp. The use of these labels also reminds one of the fact that these workers were still foreigners and "experiencing" American life and culture. An experience which held lasting effects on some workers as they returned to Mexico with different values, habits and ideas.
