The Things I've Seen

I’ll tell you what I’ve seen and can’t deny.
I watched the rig burn and sink below,
The flames rose high and raked the blue sky,
Where the eleven are I’ll never know.
I flew above the dark clouds of Sandy,
Shouting warnings to the seamen afield,
That Boston would be hit hard as can be,
Like a god who chose a hammer to wield.
Under the black sky of Rita, I stood,
Daring its black heart to pull me away,
Desperate to hold what water I could,
Myself afraid she would make me a stray.
But none of this can possibly compare,
To these snowy mountains at which today I stare.
