Predecessor and Subsidiary Companies

CF&I was preceded by a number of different corporate entities that were consolidated into the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company when it was formed in 1892. Being a vertically integrated company, CF&I also had a number of subsidiaries that each played a specific role in reducing its dependency on outside interests for goods and services.
