Race and the Digital: Racial Formation and 21st Century Technologies

Ashley Martinez-Munoz

My full first name is Ashleymarie, but I go by Ashley. I am 21 years old. I am the first of my family to attend college. I am a transfer student from Long Beach City College. My major is Psychology, and I hope to soon be minoring in Applied Developmental Psychology.  I am currently an undergraduate at UCLA, and hope to soon attend a Graduate school to obtain my Master's in Marriage Family Therapy. I am pursuing a career as a Marriage Family Therapist, and am highly interested in the children aspect of the field. I am a part of Active Minds at UCLA, which is a club that promotes mental health. I have an on campus job at Jimmy's Coffeehouse/Cafe 451, where I am a student supervisor. I am currently enrolled in a Chicano/a Studies class, from this class I hope to learn about the Chicano/a ethnicity and how the digital humanities plays a role within not only this ethnicity, but all ethnicities. I have came into this class with no background knowledge on Chicano/a(s) or the digital humanities, so I believe this class will be an intellectual and interesting experience while at UCLA.
