Puerto Rico's libraries, archives and museums road to recovery: A timeline of events after Hurricane Maria

Funding

When disaster strikes, funding becomes essential to rebuild damaged structures, protect endangered patrimony and help artists continue their work. In Puerto Rico, funding not only came as a monetary contribution but also through special programs that hoped to attend particular needs.

By July 2018 $1,462.994.32 USD had been awarded through special calls by diverse entities to 164 institutions or artist. Also, the American Library Association and Reforma Nacional's “Adopt a Library” provided direct support to 20 participants and the Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic's “Collections Assessment for Preservation” program assisted one institutions with collection assessment.
