Memoranda to the president regarding the situation in Czechoslovakia, an advised response discussed with Jacob Beam and Secretary Rusk, and discussions of Czechoslovakia’s need for Western financial support and the possibility of conferring the Most Favored Nation status upon it. Reports revealing ongoing negotiation with the Czech government over gold, restitution of seized Western assets, and on East German fears of Czech influence on society. Long memorandum describing Major General Jan Šejna’s assertion that both Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union were fed up with Castro. Further, the memo describes Czechoslovakia’s general fatigue with financing revolution abroad.
