Freshness

Distinct from both taste and scientific quality, items that describe “freshness” refer to the amount of time and space passed beyond the point at which food ideally ought to be consumed. Such items may use freshness as a metric for quality, or they may critique the idea of freshness as a socially constructed value that results in unnecessary consumer waste.
