Choice as a Farmer

The land has gotten bad/spoiled/ now.
Bhaskar: As a farmer what do you do then?
Chotka: You can tell me what to do. You know too.
Bhaskar: I no nothing. You are the person with knowledge and wisdom.
Chotak: I use lot of fertilizer and without that I can't grow anything now. It's not just seeds but the "Earth has gone bad". The most drastic effect has been on rice. You can't find the kinds of rice we used to have, even just 15-20 years ago, there is no "local rice" left to grow that responded to this Earth much more favorably but with the "developed rice" [hybrid rice] the only responds well with fertilizer. The Earth is "dying".
"Sabriry" is the only variety that I grow but the old rice variety such as the "IR-8" has been lost. People's palates have changed too as many younger people never grew up eating "IR-8" or any other older rice varieties. Therefore there is very little market and desire to eat this rice.
