Opium War battles (1839-1842, 1856-1860)

The Opium War in the period of 1839-1842 and 1856-1860, first began in China's campaign to suppress the British merchants who sold opium to Chinese. The smaller, but technologically progressive British military advanced themselves successfully in naval conflicts against the Chinese military. As a consequence, the British (and other Western countries) gained commercial privileges, legal and territorial concessions. It demanded and forced China to open four additional treaty ports and cede Hong Kong and smaller islands to Britain.
