‘A Woman of Great Courage’: Women in the Printing Trades in Early Modern Europe

Mary Magnes (active 1677-1690?)

Mary Magnes (active 1677-1690?) was probably the widow of James Magnes (active 1660-79) who had been the senior partner in a publishing firm with Richard Bentley (active 1675-97), who was a well-known publisher of plays, novels, and romances. Bentley worked with several members of the Magnes family, including Mary.
