Aaron Burr narrates the story of what happened when Hamilton, Madison and Jefferson get together to make a deal. Government deals are always a lot more complicated than the average humans thinks because there are so many working pieces that are kept secret. Unless they are in the "room" than they may never know what "happened" and how the deal was created. Being in that room is how people get their voices heard.

Hamilton gets to be part of the various deals while Burr just gets to be an on looker. Aaron Burr is a fascinated because he keeps the audience involved while walking them through how things work in their government focused world. This is another example of him fulfilling his job. Aaron Burr has to be one of my favorite characters as he balances remaining neutral on the outside (because that is kind of his thing) while achieving his own personal desires. Like the many other characters in the show, he is fighting to create a legacy that will be well remembered. In this song he plays the idea that if he can be with the others in the room, he will have a part in shaping the country. But what he fails to realize and why Hamilton is there, is of his beliefs. Entertainment can come from when characters are trying to hold everything together while getting their objective/desires. The audience is able to get insight into those desires in a well written and somewhat jazzy song about creating government deals.
