US Latinx Activism and Protests: From the Farm to the (Legislative) Table

Short Handle Hoe

The short handle hoe was an agricultural tool that required braceros to perform stoop labor due to its length. Although now illegal it was widely used during the bracero program. Farmers believed that short handle hoes forced workers to be more careful with their crops thus requiring their usage despite there being a more equitable option available such as the regular handle hoe.
