The Enduring Climb by MADISON KNUTSON
Like a shampoo bottle running on empty,
I am over-extended.
Constantly traveling,
never reaching my destination.
Mounting pressure too big to subside.
Will I ever get to the mountaintop?
Away from the business?
The stress?
Away from the calamitous clouds I reside in?
Will this trek never end?
The peak is so close I can taste it.
When I arrive I wonder,
Will I breathe easy?
Will I be fulfilled?
I wish I could wash away these thoughts,
the dirty gritty substances that consume my head.
But I don’t have enough shampoo.MADISON KNUTSON is a freshman pursuing a degree in Journalism with a minor in Spanish. Madison is from Eagle River, Alaska. She aspires to be a bilingual journalist after finishing college so that she can make a difference in her community.
