What is fear?

Fear is the key moment where one realizes the harm of an action,

Where learning how to ride a bike becomes a tearful, scary task,

And their ego, broken into many little pieces, put back together with the hands

Of their parents.

Fear is a natural instinct that allows one’s survival to flourish

Where after the first burn, becomes wary of the flame.

Where after the first heartbreak, becomes hardened in the chest

And blocks out the world and enters their own, until one day,

visited by a guest, and brought out again.
