Beyond the Boundaries of Fantasia: An ancient imagining of the future of leadership

Problem: asserting dominance in the right way

PROBLEM

The leader may feel the need to assert dominance.

WHY this may be a problem

The leader may not be successful at asserting dominance and may thus be embarrassed or humiliated. The leader may in turn be dominated by someone else. The leader may succeed in dominating someone else, but otherwise intimidate and alienate that person as well as others.

QUESTIONS to consider

What are some examples you can think of where a leader--a parent, a coach, a boss--tried to assert dominance/authority over you or someone you know? What was the outcome?

When have you attempted to assert authority/dominance over someone? Was it successful? How do you measure the success?
