Sounding Childhood

Part 4: Christmas Carols

Victorian Christmas Carols: An Introduction

These Christmas carols are here on my academic website Sounding Childhood so many people around the world can hear carols of the past.  Yet many will sound familiar, a reminder that many of our current carols were written or brought back during the Victorian era, the 1800s.  For a concert and recording, a 20-children's choir sang in a 1906 church, the Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, in Richmond, Indiana.  So we honor the Victorian era--the era I teach and research at IU East. I hope this whole project was very educational for these children to learn older carols but by recording, many more people will hear them on the internet!
