"Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" was written by Charles Wesley, one of the founders of Methodism, and has been a Christmas favorite for almost as long, one of the top-appearing hymns in my 100 children's hymnbooks of the nineteenth century, in fact. The original words were, "Hark, the Welkin Angels..."
