Constructing a Culture

Films in the Classroom

With the technological advances in cinema, films could now be used in the classroom to teach sensitive topics, such as bodily functions. Instructors were able to show medically correct films without the stigma of a morally constricting culture.  The film was viewed by young women in churches, 4H clubs, as well as community college. The use of animation made it easier to view diagrams. The audience can relate to the activities that the animated girl goes through and the omnipresent narrator speaks in a calm voice, relieving any embarrassment or stigma the audience might have felt.
