He has taken various courses in Sociology, Chicano/a Studies, and Education. As a transfer student, Alan has personally seen and faced the many challenges that arise and affect many community college students. In hopes of bridging the unstable bridge connecting community college student to four year institutions, Alan wants to become a community college counselor and reframe their roles to better assist students.
Alan works with young students at an elementary school in East Los Angeles. He is currently in charge of facilitating a program called KidTech in which students learn how to safely and effectively navigate through the "digital world."
He is taking Chicano 191 where he hopes to learn more about how race interacts with the digital.
