The show focuses on the clash between the Catholic Latino Rodriguez family and the WASP white Kirkridge family next door. Relations are further “complicated,” when two children from each respective “warring” family fall in love. The first time a full Latino cast played a middle class family. Like with many shows addressing race, this show also played on the “fish out of water” and culture clash tropes. The show however was extremely short lived, it only lasted 12 episodes and was cancelled following low ratings.
