A common gag within the show was the clash between Paul and his parents. His parents often berated him for his “offensive” humor routines. They perceived him as mocking traditional Mexican culture in his stand ups. In an interview with NPR, reporter Tasnim Shamma said that the show only lasted one month because “Many Hispanics took offense and protested the show's jokes and promotion of stereotypes.”
