The Coors Brewing Company was founded by Adolf Coors and Jacob Schueler, who migrated from Prussia to the United States. The two opened up a brewery after purchasing the recipe for a Pilsner style beer from William Silan. Coors invested $2,000 into the brewery while Schueler invested $6,000 into the project. However, Coors would later buy out his partner and become the sole owner of the brewer in 1880.
Despite Coors' modest beginning, the company would come to be the single largest brewery in the world. With growing wealth, the company was able to expand and even influence politics. Much of the time, their support would be in favor of politicians who reflected their conservative views. This would become an issue for the Coors company in the 1960's through the 1970's when Coors' workers would form a union to strike back against the company's conservatism and racist tendencies.
