Dr. Kristin Novotny's section of Bodies will focus on the concept of body image and its social, political and personal implications. We will weave together sociological and historical research about body image with lived experience, pop culture, media analysis and phenomenology. 

In this course, we will examine:                    The historical evolution and implications of fat stigma in the U.S.
