Race and the Digital: Racial Formation and 21st Century Technologies

Digital Divide Paper Title by Joe Bruin

This is my introduction. It is here that state my argument and attract the reader. I might begin with a compelling quote or story that situates my topic. Or, I could describe a perplexing problem or contradiction that sets the stage for my essay. My opening leads to my research question. This will allow the reader to anticipate the direction of my essay, but it is only a taste of the paper to come.

I will want to be explicit about how my paper engages the research question: "Using course readings, statistical data on Internet usage, and your own analysis of a new media source (i.e. a website, app, blog, forum, twitter account etc), write a report that describes an aspect of the digital divide. In your evaluation, consider the ways race shapes the nature of access/participation with information and communication technologies (ICTs) and what your observations reveal about the broader significance of ICT access or inaccess for minoritized communities."

My total essay be about 1,250 words and is due on April 28th at 10 am.
