Sailing the British Empire : The Voyages of The Clarence, 1858-73

18th Hussars

One of the largest parties that traveled to India on the Clarence was half of a light cavalry unit of the British Army, the 18th Hussars in particular. In the coming slides, I will outline the history of the Hussars, contextualize the events that led to the Hussars boarding the Clarence, and trace their movements and significant events on, and after disembarking, the Clarence.
