Krumkake (Great Great Aunt Ella’s recipe)
Recipe:
- Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 scant cup milk
- 1 ½ cup flour
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- Preparation:
- Cream butter and sugar
- Add eggs, milk, flour, and vanilla
- Put 1 tablespoon batter on hot griddle
- Cook till light brown
- Roll on cone
- Important notes: It may be helpful to soften the butter slightly before combining with the sugar and eventually the other ingredients. This will help to ensure that the butter does not clump up. If your parents are anything like mine make sure to crack your eggs into an empty bowl to ensure that no shell sneaks into the main ingredient bowl. Finding the right temperature to cook the batter at takes a little time and experimentation. Try a couple different temperatures and count to 10-15 seconds for each side until you find the right heat that will brown each side of the flat disc. Make sure you also have a helper to quickly grab the treat and roll it as fast as they can. IT HARDENS QUICK!
