Star of the Sea : A Postcolonial/Postmodern Voyage into the Irish Famine

Beginner's Irish

All this talk about a dying language, and I feel I must include a few phrases for the curious reader to learn.  If this piques your interest, check out the app and website Duolingo.  It will teach you Irish for free.

Keep in mind that there are alternative pronunciations - there are three distinct Irish dialects: Munster, Connacht, and Ulster, each spoken in a different region of Ireland.  The pronunciations provided are the Connacht ones - that is, the area of Ireland including Connemara, Galway, and Mayo.
