Local Currency
Makoko has a strong culture of haggling, bartering, cost negotiation, and exchanges of goods. The flexible system includes an exchange value of goods for goods. The area boys and hackers were the first to introduce a blockchain currency called the 'Ato' to Makoko's trade system (named after Satoshi Nakamoto, inventor of the original archaic 'Bitcoin' of 2009) in 2020 following the world economic collapse. Ato is a digital trading system which allows Makokoans to trade in an alternative manner from hard goods. Atos are also used for external and international trade.
