The term 'Beach Boys' was coined in the coastal regions of Kenya, where local men would provide sex and romance for money to foreign women from developed countries who came as tourists.

With the pre-election violence that erupted in Kenya in 2030, the Nigerian coastal line became the next popular destination for these female sex tourists, opening a new Beach Boy market in Nigeria.
