Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement: A Policy Option

Executive Summary

             The following report is a policy option focused on possibly USG response to actions by the terrorist organization known as the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM) The report begins by creating a hypothetical attack that is representative of a typical attack by BIFM. This will be followed by a comprehensive examination of the organization by observing BIFM's TTPs, history and ideology. The report offers brief summaries of the two main strategies that are used by the USG when dealing with organizations similar to BIFM. In conclusion this reports provides that a COIN strategy would be the most effective manner to deal with BIFM given the nature of the group and surrounding situation.
