Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement: A Policy Option

Question of International Support

BIFM, including it's beliefs and actions, are not known to be supported by any internationally recognized state. That being said, the group is known to be have close ties with other groups that do operate within the Philippines. Two older and better recognized groups, the Abu Sayyaf Group and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), have claimed to formed alliances with the BIFM in working towards their mutual goals and protections.
Furthermore, while the group is not known to have any support coming from a recognized state, the leaders of BIFM have supposedly sworn allegiance to ISIS. Though BIFM is unlikely to be receiving any sort of direct support from ISIS, the Syrian-Iraqi group is likely to stand as an example for the BIFM to emulate.
