Executive Order 9066, 1942 (SJS)
After the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii by Japan, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued an executive order on February 9, 1942. The Executive Order 9066 authorized the Secretary of War to prescribe military areas and create incarceration camps as well as provide the authority to enforce compliance regarding the mass removal of Japanese American immigrants and citizens.
