Skylines
Beijing has always been a flat city, at least compared to Shanghai, but that is changing as global and domestic capital flows into the city. . .
Beijing's skyline is growing, but it is unlike other skylines, which are more centralized. Instead there are different areas of urban vertical growth.
There is Guomao in the eastern side of the city, with the China World Trade Center and the new CCTV tower. And there is the new financial district in the West, home to global financial firms like Goldman Sachs.
The above photo is looking out the window of the China Bar on top of the Park Hyatt in Guomao. . . marveling at the spread out city from above on a rare clear day. You can look down at the roads, see where the Hutongs end and the modern city begins, spot the roofs of temples or the greenery of parks. . .
In the future Beijing's skyline will continue to grow. . .
