While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Booth public library in Newtown, was part of an effort to preserve both condolence materials and press materials about the tragedy for future researchers.
"We decided we needed to create an archive, and we wanted it to be a representative archive...As a library, we feel all of this that we keep, whether it's digitally formatted or physically housed in the library, it needs to be kept for a purpose...
It needs to be accessible, it needs to be organized so that it's useful, and that's the whole premise for the project we're doing, which differs from other projects in the community that are going on now."
