A Legacy of Resilience
We have always had and will continue to have a relationship to our land and to Ohi:yo' as a Seneca people.
We are a resilient people who continue to follow our traditions and make new ones. We follow the knowledge of seven generations: knowledge of seven generations before us and knowledge for seven generations after.
The United States will 'never' claim this land nor 'disturb' the Seneca Nation in its free use and enjoyment thereof: 'It shall remain theirs until they choose to sell the same to the people of the United States.' This is a basic right stated in the Pickering Treaty of 1794.
