Worldbuilding Professional Portfolio

Teaching

While Laura's research has resulted in numerous print publications, including a co-authored book chapter on worldbuilding, her worldbuilding projects as a media producer, teacher and teaching assistant have also produced films, interactive operas, virtual reality immersive experiences at the Sundance Film Festival, multimedia collections at the Venice Biennale, concepts for augmented reality apps, and digital multimedia books. These varied media formats empower participants Laura works with, collaborators and students, etc., to utilize whichever mediums adequately express the knowledge they want to communicate.

Over the past two years Laura worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Graduate Seminar in World Building across three semesters, teaching fourteen weeks alongside Worldbuilding Lab Assistant Brandon Cahoon. Through these experiences, she had regular practice leading workshops, guiding the semester long project, and developing a teaching philosophy that sees worldbuilding as core to pedagogy.
