Kierra M. Porter is a first-year English doctoral student at Howard University. She received her bachelors degree from the University of Houston and her master of arts degree from Texas Southern University.  At Texas Southern University, she published a thesis on black womanhood, authenticity, and self care. She hopes to continue research on African American women in literature.
