Chvonne's BR/NL NoteTaking Challenge: BR 6

Realtime Board would have to be my favorite application so far. It is very easy to use, reminds me of Prezi, and has a lot of potential for design and collaboration. I had never heard of Realtime Board prior to this course. When I saw that the description referred to the application as a whiteboard, I was concern that it would be like Paint or Google Draw. The application actually contains an expansive space (similar to my favorite Prezi), which allows the user to insert texts, images, and drawings. In regards to note taking, I liked that RealtimeBoard allowed me to upload files from my computer and via url. I liked the idea of being able to use text and images at the same time. I am wary of applications that seem to favor one over the other. I am definitely one who favors text, but I like the option of visuals.  I liked that it had a tool for making connections and linking ideas. I don’t think there is much that this wouldn’t allow me to do.

My favorite part of Realtime Board is that you can access your final product in a variety of ways. I saved my first board as a pdf and png. I also saved it to Google Drive, copied the embed code, and copied the link. There are so many ways to save and share the content that you create. I can say that I was thoroughly surprised by Realtime Board. I was able to cut and and paste significant pieces of my notes without much of a learning curve. The features were familiar enough to use, but the application was interesting enough to make using it fun. If I was interested in design, I can see how using this could help me work on arrangement, layout, an patterns of design before I commit them to print or publication. I can see the potential for this as a collaborative note taking assignment or even as a digital poster. Students could peer review the posters via the comments feature and the chat feature in the application.

Above is a my Realtime Board as a image file. Below, I have provided the link to my Realtime Board and have embedded it into this post.
