My name is Chvonne Parker, and I am a second year PhD at Old Dominion University. My emphases are Rhetoric, Writing, and Discourse Studies and Literature and Cultural Studies. I specifically focuses on African American Rhetoric and Cultural Studies. Much of my research is in Hip Hop culture and rhetoric/composition. I have been teaching composition and literature in traditional and online classrooms for over 5 years.

I hope to utilize this course to explore and expand my interests in participatory culture. I also hope to use this course as a playground to safely explore different new media technologies. My goal for this year is to revamp my teaching philosophy to fit the person that I am becoming through this PhD program. My hope is that this course will allow me to discover effective ways to integrate new media and technology into my courses. I want my students to have the knowledge and tools to succeed in a technologically complex time.
